saloon culture
The anti saloon league partaking in saloon culture was seen as a leading organization back in the 20th century. It was an important factor and key procedure in order to captivate prohibition in the South. This league was built on opinions and beliefs on social statures as well as chains based on the thoughts of the leader, Howard Hyde Russell. Saloon culture is basically structured and based on social and upper stature and was onward showed and expresesd through events in the later details.

From around 1920-1933, the United States were in a period of time known as the Prohibition. During this period of time, the manufacturing and selling of alcohol was made illegal. However, people still had access to all kinds of alcoholic beverages. Establishements called Speakeasies provided alcohol to the public. A person going to a speakeasy was technically paying for an event, such as a dance, or an exhibit. And then the owners would serve the guests a complimentary Alcoholic beverage. This way cops would not know people were illegally selling alcohol. Some of the speakeasies were known as Blind Pigs and Blind Tigers, and they were slightly different from the traditional speakeasy. The Blind Pigs and Blind Tigers were for the lower class. A speakeasy was much more formal, and the patrons were often required to dress up to enter a speakeasy event.

There were two Red Scares. The first taking place in 1917 to 1920 and the second one from 1947 to 1957. The one that took place in 1917 took place after the Bolshevik Russian Revolution. It was a nation-wide hysteria of fear about communism. People feared that a Bolshevik Revolution in Denalik would change the American way of life. This fear was caused by a string of anarchist bombings. Groups that stood out during the Red Scare was the International Workers of the World and the Socialist Party. These groups were considered unpatriotic so people feared that they would start the revolution. This Red Scare was a very political moment and impacted the Unites States greatly.
Just like the scene of events listed above about the Red Scares, "The Great Gatsby" had in a way the same sort of shared and comparable events as the Red Scares. "The Great Gatsby" was written and based on the same time periods as about when the Red Scares began to take place. Not only that, but in a way, Gatsby was feared just as much as the scene of events listen in the Red Scares.

Politics
Prohibition started in the 1920's. Prohibition was the banning of alcohol. The mob took advantage of this by selling alcohol illeagaly. This was known as bootlegging. This is how John F. Kennedy's father made his money. Also Al Capone was natorious for bootlegging. This led to violence and many deathes due to the alcohol and the mob fighting for its business.
Heres a picture of moonshine:.
This is related to the Great Gatsby because Gatsby was a bootlegging. Many nobodies became somebodies during this time just like in the Great Gatsby. The American Dream was very popular during this time and bootlegging was the fastest way to achieve the american dream.
